General Contractor: BUDIMEX SA
Construction of the S6 expressway between Chwaszczyn and Żukowo, a section of the Tri-City Metropolitan Bypass (OMT), began in October 2022 in Pomerania. The new route, bypassing the Tricity agglomeration from the south and west, will connect the S7 Southern Bypass of Gdansk, the A1 highway and the S6 Kashubian Route. The investment will enable efficient, safe and comfortable travel from the A1 and S7 to the west and north of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The OMT will restore the possibility of long-distance transit along the S6 route along the Baltic coast, towards Lebork, Slupsk, Koszalin and Szczecin. It will provide traffic accessibility to the areas lying along the current national roads No. 7 and 20. It will unblock the centers of Żukowo and Chwaszczyn and relieve the burden on the existing Tri-City bypass, where traffic volume has long exceeded its capacity.
The construction of this section of the Tri-City Metropolitan Bypass (OMT), with a basic route length of about 16.263 kilometers, will include:
● a two-lane expressway with two lanes in each direction
● a reserve for a third lane
● the "Miszewo" road interchange.
● part of the road interchange "Chwaszczyno"
● the maintenance circuit of the expressway in Miszewo with an administrative and social building and accompanying buildings.
● 25 engineering structures, including: flyover over railroad line No. 201;
● an overpass over the existing national road No. 7, the Radunia River and railroad line No. 229;
● local and access roads serving areas adjacent to the bypass.
